Driver Requirements
The primary renter and every person who operates the golf cart must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
Only drivers authorized under the rental agreement may operate the golf cart. The renter may not allow an unauthorized, unlicensed, or underage person to drive it.
Permitted Operating Area
The golf cart may be operated only on permitted public streets within South Padre Island where:
- The posted speed limit is 35 MPH or less.
- Golf cart operation is legally permitted.
- The roadway is within the operating area allowed by Isla Beach Rentals.
The golf cart must be operated responsibly and in accordance with all applicable Texas laws, South Padre Island ordinances, posted signs, traffic controls, and instructions provided by Isla Beach Rentals.
Prohibited Areas
The golf cart is strictly prohibited from being driven or parked:
- On the beach.
- On sand, dunes, shoreline, or beach-access paths.
- In any off-road area.
- On the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway.
- On any bridge or roadway leading to or from South Padre Island.
- On any roadway with a posted speed limit greater than 35 MPH.
- Outside South Padre Island or outside the permitted rental operating area.
- On private property without the property owner’s permission.
- In any location where golf cart operation is prohibited.
The golf cart may not be used to enter or leave South Padre Island.
Traffic and Safety Rules
The golf cart is equipped for permitted street use with safety equipment that may include headlights, turn signals, brake lights, mirrors, and seat belts. This does not mean that the golf cart may be operated on every street or roadway.
The driver must:
- Obey all traffic lights, stop signs, speed limits, lane markings, parking rules, and traffic-control devices.
- Drive in the same direction as traffic.
- Yield to pedestrians and other vehicles when required.
- Use turn signals when turning or changing direction.
- Keep all passengers seated while the golf cart is moving.
- Ensure that the driver and all passengers use the provided seat belts.
- Operate the golf cart carefully and safely at all times.
- Follow all instructions provided by Isla Beach Rentals.
Passenger Capacity
The number of occupants may never exceed the golf cart’s stated passenger capacity.
Every passenger must occupy a designated seat. Passengers may not stand, sit on another passenger, sit on the roof, hang outside the golf cart, or ride in any location not designed as a passenger seat.
Alcohol, Drugs, and Unsafe Operation
Operating the golf cart while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, impairing medication, or any substance that affects safe driving is strictly prohibited.
Open containers of alcohol are prohibited in the golf cart. Reckless driving, racing, towing, stunts, intentional skidding, or any other dangerous use is prohibited.
Renter Responsibility
The renter is responsible for ensuring that every authorized driver and passenger follows this Rental Policy and all applicable laws.
The renter is responsible for citations, parking violations, towing, impoundment, recovery expenses, and other costs resulting from the renter’s or an authorized driver’s operation of the golf cart, as permitted by the signed rental agreement and applicable law.
A violation of the Rental Policy may result in immediate termination of the rental without a refund, subject to the signed rental agreement and applicable law.
